What kind of power should I get
What kind of power should I get
I want to add Edelbrock TES headers and probably their cat-back system to my car, with a Compcams 212-218 duration @.05 with lift around .447-.467. As well as 1.5 ratio roller rockers. How much horsepower chould this add to my car? Also, will the nickel plated headers stay in good condition, or will they turn some funky color?

Edelcrock TES are the worst headers you can get for these cars. I'd highly recomend you spend the extra $$$ for the SLPs. Not only are they a superior design (more power), they are also stainless so they'll never rot.
As for gains, 3 tenths and 3 mph would be the minimum i would expect out of them.
If you look over the exhaust board, this debate has been beaten to death many times. 99% of folks who have seen/used both designs would NEVER run the edelcrocks again. Including me.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

Ed...I would think that you would know better than to make broad sweeping statements like "Edelbrock is the worst you can get" for our cars.
I know of several other brands that are far "worse" than the Edelbrocks. My Edelbrocks were well made, and fit with no engine lifting or other "tricks" that some people found necessary.
As For a 1 5/8" header...the Edelbrock is very nice. You cant really compare the 1 3/4" SLP....that is like comparing apples to oranges.... It doesnt work.

Ya i heard you have to like lift the engine to get the Slps in. is that true. My friend said it took them 3 hours to tighten one bolt on a 91 Z. And they had to make a special wrech to get the spark plugs out.

Headers suck, we all know this.
I'm running flowtech headers.. They fit pretty good actually. The rear 4 plugs have to be taken out with an open end wrench, but I have a lift so its no big deal.
Now I like some SLP stuff. Their runners seem to work pretty good. I just wish the metal inside was more smooth..
