Anybody done a 383?

I've been asking around about this for awhile, and no one has been able to give me a reason-based answer. What I want to do is put a stroker crank in a 5.7 TPI. My question is will it work with the stock computer and performance chip? And what affect would putting a slightly more aggressive made-for-computers cam have? I would think that as long as I use a MAF system everything woudl be fine, it would just read more air coming in and give it more fuel, but a MAP system would require a custom calibration. I know a lot of Corvette guys run 383's, but I don't know the differences between the computers. If anybody could help, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks.

I have seen several people on here that have done it. The computers on the vett's are the same pretty much as far as they will adapt the same way as the f-bodies. They might have slightly different fuel and spark programing and soforth tho, but so do different years of f-body. The maf will adjust a lot better than the sd but will still be better if custom programmed for the setup.

I have a 383 in my car now, but it isn't done. I keep changing things, just as it is about to be ready. Consider that a cam that is "great" for a 350, will be on the small side for a 383. The same goes for cylinder heads and the intake tract as well. I see nothing wrong w/ SD as well. I know of a few people that switched from MAF to SD and are making more power. However, they are burning their own chips - it's not just a plug it in and go way faster solution. Good luck with your project, keep us all informed.
