Is a SuperRam still TPI?
I was wondering if a SuperRam intake setup is still considered a Tuned Port Injection system. To try to answer my own question....I thought the "tuned" in tuned port had to do with the plenum and runner design...the superram totally changes that....so Im guessing its not. Im working on a 383 SuperRam....and started thinking that maybe instead of using a "Tuned Port Injection" emblem on the rear bumper...i should get something made that says "Super Ram Injection" Hmmmmmm......
It absolutely is a "tuned port injection" system. As long the intake runner resonance occurs within the operating rpm range of the engine, it is by definition a "tuned" intake system. With the Superam system the resonance occurs at approximately 500 rpm higher due to the runner length being shortened by approx 3 inches.
The super ram still uses the exact same port injection, it even uses the stock fuel rails. The plenum and runners are just "tuned" a different way.
I like how "Tuned Port Injection" sounds more than "Super Ram Injection" anyway.
