What year did they change to speed density?

Hi,

Im pickin up a fuel injection setup of a 89, or 90 car not sure. What year did they change to speed density? Also are there anythings I should look out for?

they changed over to speed density in 1990

the got rid of the cold start valve in 89. just to let ya know. if that matters in ur case

Hey,

Thanks for the replys. Didnt they add a 9th injector on speed density (not sure). Also should I use the stock distributor or can I use my hei with vacum advance?

If you plan to run TPI fuel injection, you must get the ECM, which also controls the distributor. You can tell if the TPI is a SD setup by looking at the back "passenger side" of the plenum for the spot that the MAP sensor bolts and connects to.

did they get rid of the cold start valve in 89? i have 3 tpi setups. the one on my 92z is speed density. now the other two are maf. one has a coldstart injector and i the other one doesnt.

As said before, no cold start injector in 89-up.
