Walmart cheapo SuperTech Oil OK ?

If I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles, I would guess Supertech oil at 84 cents a quart would be OK, at least, not harmful to my engine, right ??? It has the same ratings as the other oils, like SF, SG, SH, etc. I don't race very often. Just the occasional stoplight dragrace. I almost never take it over 4K rpm, and seldom over 3K rpm. Thanks

btw, whatever happenned to the "Tech / General Engine " board ??"

If the oil meets current specs then there's no reason to not use it if you're cost conscious.

SuperTech is junk

I have no proof of this but I work at wal-mart and i've heard that the super tech oil filters are made by fram for wal-mart. If Fram is crap what do you think Super Tech is?

Do a search. This has come up before. I don't believe that the Wal-Mart oil filter is made by Fram. At least in prior discussions it wasn't.

You might also want to check bobistheoilguy.com. That site has a good review of a variety of oils.

Last time I researched SuperTech oil filters, it was my understanding that they are made by Champion Labratories. They also manufacturer filters for Mobil, AC Delco (overseas), Autozone, and a few others. Not saying it is the same filter in each case, but I believe the Autozone and SuperTech are the same filter. I wouldn't and don't hesitate to run them on my daily drivers. I'll stick with AC or Wix (Napa and Carquest) filters on my 383 Camaro though.

I believe that the following study is accurate and will represent similar hits if you Google "Super Tech Champion". Ed
