zz9 in a stock gen 1 350?

So here's a question for all you guys. I have a complete '90 TPI speed density EFI setup laying around the garage that I have been thinking about putting in my car. It has a '72 350 out of a blazer. The engine is pretty much stock. I was looking for a cam that would get me 20-30 more horsepower and maybe be able to keep the TPI setup pulling into the 5300 rpm range. Was looking at the tpis zz9 cam. Is this too much cam for this stock combination. Car is going to be a daily driver so streetability and mileage are a factor. Any other ideas of good cams to go with this setup would be appreciated.

A '72 350 is a non-roller block. The ZZ9 cam is a roller cam and will not work in a non-roller block without an expensive retrofit kit.

Not to mention the springs on the factory heads you are using will probably not support the lift of the ZZ9.

I was planning on retrofitting to rollers. Also am looking at getting a new set of heads, I sure wish they made vortec heads with the older style intake bolt patterns.

According to TPIS, the lift for the ZZ-9 is: Gross Lift .483/.520

Most stock springs won't handle this.

This cam will work with stock heads. I used it on my car for a couple of years and worked great.
