400hp TPI 92GTA dd
We are going to rebuild a 92GTA L98 engine and hope for 400hp daily driver.
Tuning will be taken care of with "EBL flash".
Our objectives: reliability, emissions, top hp under 5500rpm, full options and ready for some tuff mountain roads.
First things we thought of:
383 strocker kit
Heads
bigger roller cam
intake
bigger oilpan + oil pump
transmission?
If anyone is successfully driving such a set up, thanks for any advice or canfiguration.

Well, with a 383 and TPI you're probably not going to hit peak HP in the 5000+rpm range unless you do some serious massage work to good aftermarket TPI parts...
I stuck with a 355, and with the mods in my sig I'm sitting right around 400hp to the crank, depending on how much you figure in for drivetrain loss (305rwhp and it runs mid 12s)

thomas1976, are you looking for 400 rear wheel hp, or 400 flywheel hp?
Used to be people usually meant 400 engine hp, now most speak of power to the wheels.
It doesn't take a 383 to get 400 flywheel hp.
Check my sig, that combo made 320 to the wheels. Figuring 20% drivetrain loss, it's a 400 hp motor. Daily driver with cold air conditioning. Gas milage is just over 14 mpg around town, with a heavy right foot.

Gunner823 and Burnout91, great imput thanks. Is it possible to keep EGR with your AFR’s ?
Yes sorry I did not write that one correctly, was intendet to keep it under 5500rpm.
400 fwhp. Thats already a big challenge for our little local car club
The point is to keep it TPI, old fashion folks that like it the way it was except stock performance
We already installed EBL flash and it worked great, took like 2 hours of repinning, first time. Specific intructions are include with the TPI package.
Unfortunately we dident get the chance to tune alot because the tranmission died recently.
Fast, U dont happen to come skiing in the Swiss mountains this wither?

Re: 400hp TPI 92GTA dd
Honestly, I have no freakin idea...I don't drive the car enough to keep track
If I were to make a very big guess, I'd say between 10-13 around town and 14-15 on the highway. Maybe a bit more if I keep it under 65mph to keep the RPMs down. To the topic creator...I ditched my EGR, so I'm not sure if it will work with the AFR heads. Probably will, though.
