Centerbolt Valve covers

Help!

I went absolutely crazy trying to find the magnesium L98 Corvette valve covers for my new engine, got rocker arms to accommodate the center bolt pattern, but even after trimming out the drippers the valve covers hit the rockers. I believe the Canfield heads I have have taller rocker studs than some other heads (at least that is the vibe I got from the engine builder)... In a recent camaro or GM performance magazine, they built a similar 383, but with Edelbrock heads and used the same valve covers. The magazine said they used a spacer under their valve cover, but I couldn't find a valve cover spacer for centerbolt valve covers anywhere. Only thing I could find remotely close was a hundred dollar set of adapters to fit perimeter style covers on centerbolt heads, and it only gave 3/8".

Anyone seen centerbolt valve cover spacers before, or ran into this situation? Other posts I've seen that use these valve covers typically say after the drippers go, it fits OK...

Oh, and if someone delt with a spacer before, do the runners on the TPI hit the valve covers?

Thanks!

Re: Centerbolt Valve covers

It wouldn't very be hard to machine some risers out of aluminum to space them up.

Re: Centerbolt Valve covers

why stick with those with all the hassle,do you like the vette covers that much? I use a set of Jegs smooth polish covers and get alot of compliments about them. and they are only 100 bucks, you could probably sell those vette's for something around that..( or just save'm, that's what i would do)

Re: Centerbolt Valve covers

The Corvette L98 "mag" covers are perfect valve cover. Not much looks better IMHO.

....See if maybe a machine/fab shop would be able to help. Shouldn't be too tough for someone with the tools and knowledge.

Re: Centerbolt Valve covers

I guess I'll have to do some playing around. I'm just a bit concerned the valve cover may hit the runners, but I'll look into it a bit further and see what the shop can do.

Abubaca, I gotta agree with you, on a TPI motor, there isn't anything that looks better than the mag covers, they compliment the TPI plenum like no others.

I appreciate the responses, thanks!
