Hypertech Question
I just bought a Hypertech chip for my 87 305 TPI Transam. I know from reading the posts here that it's nickname is Hypercrap & all but I have neither the time or inclination to burn my own so my question is this, I have my timing advanced for better performance with the stock chip & the instructions for the hypercrap chip say to have timing set to stock is it OK to run this chip with the timing still advanced or should I reset to stock? My car is stock except for Flowmaster exhaust & K&N filter with a airfoil. I might have the car dynotuned with a custom chip later if I do any more mods so this might be temporary. By the way it is a Thermomaster chip so I know I will need a colder thermostat also.
I appreciate an info you guys have about this issue, this is the best forum anywhere for our cars!!!!!!

Re: Hypertech Question
The Hypertech chip already advances the timing. You want your distributor set to stock 6 degrees so the chip wont overadvance the timing and make the engine knock or ping.

Re: Hypertech Question
Thanks for the help. I will reset timing & try out the chip. I bought it used for $45.00 so if I pay to have the car dynotuned later I guess I'll just resell the chip on Ebay. Thanks again!!!!!
