Sell the GTA?

First I want to say sorry, I know this may not be the best place for this thread but I couldnt figure any where else to put it.

SO. The story is; im getting deployed to Iraq in January, and when I come back I will be greated by about $15,000 in pay I couldn't spend. Now either way im going to go buy a cheap Jeep to putt around in. That lays the ground work for my T/A to be a garaged car, not my DD. Which also opens up lots of cool stuff I can do and not have to be afraid of not being able to get to work in the morning b/c my car is in pieces.

I plan on using 12k of the 15k on the trans am...but!

Should I keep my GTA? Or sell it and buy a 99-02 LS1 M6? OR! Keep the GTA and plant a LS1 into her?

Im not going to lie, the LS1 is tempting as hell. And to be truthful its the biggest part of why I want a late 4th gen. From what I can tell the 4th gens stock driveline and engine is good for 450hp before it breaks. And the 3rd gen is good for 200hp and it breaks lol.

So what would you do?

Re: Sell the GTA?

I think the styling of the 3rd gens beats 4th hands down.

You did not say much about your GTA.....whats the over all shape?

Re: Sell the GTA?

Its in fair condition. Apparently the lot I bought it from painted it, which has started to chip everywhere. The interior has also started to come apart.

But the engine is strong and it has a brand new 700r4 tucked in there. Adjustable torque arm and poly bushings. haha Ya know id like to consider myself an engine guy but most of the stuff done to the car is driveline haha. I guess im just cautious, I dont like the idea of hoping up the engine only to snap the axle.

Re: Sell the GTA?

My vote is to keep the GTA. Fourth gens are cool and all but the only reason i like them is because of the LS1. As far as being able to stand 450 horse..the LS1 and the T56 can handle more than that i believe. The stock rear on a Third or fourth gen cant however so you would need to upgrade those. I would say you would have a cooler car dropping a cam'd and headered LS1 with a T56 in your GTA and have some sort of custom rear built to handle the power.

Re: Sell the GTA?

I have both. They each have their own pros and cons.
4 3rd gens
1 4th gen
If I had 15 grand to spend i'd buy a 4th gen and spend the left over money on mods.
