How to test EGR controller?

My car is acting a little like the EGR has an issue. Idle sticks high sometimes, and is slow to return to 800RPM. I tested the EGR valve and it seems to operate fine, but I'm not sure how to go about testing the controller? New ones are over $100 so I'd rather not have to swap it out just to find out.

Re: How to test EGR controller?

Only way I know is to put power and ground to it and listen for the click as the solenoid engages.

Do you mean the EGR solenoid by the coil?
