Buying a 91 Z28 with TPI... swapping engines... questions
So it's been a while since I posted on here. Kinda been out of the Camaro seen for a while as I got my hands into the SVT Contours. But anyway a little history first...
I have had an 85 Camaro with a built 69 350 for years. I pulled the motor out of it back in 2001 with the intent of selling it with a 305. I didn't get what I was looking for so I kept it. Well the 350 sat on an engine stand for years. Then two years ago I pulled the 305 and torn the 350 down to fresh'n it up. I found that one of the camel hump 2.02/1.60 heads was cracked. So not wanting to spend money on fixing the heads and just wanting to upgrade to aluminum better flowing heads I held off. Well just the other day I purchased a set of the Patriot Performance Freedom Series heads, which have had good reviews.
Now this brings me to my issue. THe body on my 85 is now shot. The floor boards are gone and the rear quarters need some serious attention. I had been running my car without EFI and I've grown tired of not having it. So I'm buying a 91 Z28 5.7L TPI car this Sat. However the motor is for the most part stock and has 115k on it. So I want to swap out the tired 350 for the one I built for my 85. However I'm running a pretty hot cam in my 350, it's the CompCam Magnum series 305H, .525/.525 lift. The idle is really rough. Will the TPI system of the car I'm buying run well with this cam? I'm planning on investing in a chip burner and learning how to tune this car. I've been able to tune my other car, a 98 SVT Contour using SCT's ProRacer Package, so I'm pretty sure I can figure these cars out.
So with all that said what do you guys think? Any suggestions? The car I'm buying has an MSD ignition box, hypertech chip, Eibach pro kit springs, KYB struts/shocks, Magnaflow 3" stainless exhaust, 3.73 gears, and an airfoil. My engine has the following:
350 bored .040 over
flat top speed pro pistons (9.25:1, but ran 10.25:1 with my previous heads)
zero decked block
Crane Gold 1.5 roller rockers
Patriot Performance alum Freedom Series heads (190cc, 2.02/1.60), ports gasket matched
CompCam Magnum Series 305H cam, .525/.525
Victor Jr intake, ported and polished
650 double pumper holley (undersized in my opinion)
GM HEI distributor with MSD module and Accel Super Coil
91 Z28 serptine accesory brackets, pulleys
If I remember right in the past (back in 99) someone told me to swap the cam for an CompCam Xtreme Energy cam, but I'm not sure. I love the rough idle, but it sure doesn't produce enough vacuum at idle. Will need to install a vacuum canister or vacuum pump if I run it on the new car.
Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

SLPIROC is correct.
Also IROCU69,are you using the 91 700r4?
I say if the 91 only has 115k on it and runs good, leave it alone for now and figure out what exactly you need to make the engine on the stand run at its best in the tpi driven world.
I'm guessing you will need at least a ported tpi setup along with a good tune, bigger t/b,
and so on ??
