Help!!TPI Woes.

89 Formula 305 TPI. Sitting for a few years and just got going. Was running okay. Hesitation at low rpm but okay once going. After driving it for a week, one day I stomped on it and it just cut out. Tried to start and it would for a few seconds then just cut out. Took it to a mechanic and he could not figure it out. Got it back and changed the fuel pump, ignition module, coil and Mass Airflow Sensor. Now the car runs good when cold, when warm, runs okay for a few then runs crappy. When at temperature, just runs crappy when starting it then dies after about 15 seconds. When I can get it on the road, same thing...give it good gas and it just cuts out. I have never seen this before. Please help...I love my car. Any Ideas?

Re: Help!!TPI Woes.

MAF relay? My buddies did this, on the driver side corner firewall there are a few relays, one is a maf relay. My buddy tapped his when noticing hesitation in the car, after tapping the relay wires it cut his car off completely, did it again and again it shut the car off.

So maybe the Mass Airflow Sensor is fine but the relay isnt? Someone earlier had this problem (or sounded the same).

bad injectors maybe, or some of the gaskets are dryed up and leaking air.

I agree, bad relays I would also change the fuel pump relay too. They are on the firewall near the brake booster. The 2 oval ones are for the maf, the square one is the fuel pump relay.

Sorry i didnt finish the story, we rewired a new MAF relay in and everything went away. His hesitation at take off is gone as well as it shutting off when touching the relay wires. All better
