to 1.6 rocker or not

hi guys, new to the site and have a little different situation. I have a 88 L98 trans am motor in my 77 vette. when I did the swap money was a consideration (like it isn't now) so I put the stock motor in, anyway i am looking to upgrade performance a little and was wondering if putting in 1.6 roller rockers would be beneficial. changing the cam would be nice but that would require pulling the motor and when I do that I am hoping to turn it into a stroker. any advice would be helpfull as to the benefits of this change or any other changes i should make. thanks koko

Re: to 1.6 rocker or not

I put 1.6 roller rockers on the stock 305. I did notice a power increase, but I had a problem with valve float after. I replaced the valve springs (160K miles on them) with some decent ones from comp cams, made a lot more power up top. I think it can't hurt, the stock cam is very mild and you'll have more lift. Just check pushrod clearance where they pass thru the head.
