Fuel Injector Questions
I have a 1985 IROC-Z with the 305 Tuned Port Injection. It has just over 160,00 miles. I had the injectors replaced when the car was just 2 months old. According to the dealer, there was a problem with the fuel produced at that time, causing the injectors to foul. That was almost 24 years ago now. I've been having an ongoing problem with driveability issues. Hard starting, missing, rich fuel smell to mention a few. When I took it to my mechanic, I told him it was acting very similar to the way it was when I had fouled injectors. He did some troubleshooting and found the #6 plug to be oil fouled and replaced it. He also pressure tested the fuel system and found that pressure was bleeding off, probably due to the injectors. They power flushed the injectors and it ran better for a few days. Now it's starting to run badly again. My questions are:
1. What does your oil look like when mixed with gas?
2. Are the retaining clips that lock the injectors in place necessary? The reason I ask this is because I found some remanufactured injectors online, but was told that my retaining clips would not work on them, and that they really aren't necessary???????
3. Does anyone have a reliable source for OEM replacement injectors?
I appreciate any help.

Re: Fuel Injector Questions
Contact Jon at FIC ( fuelinjectionconnection.com). He has rebuilt Bosch Style II's that will fit and be a perfect replacement. The Bosch III's will fit also, but they are plastic, and can be affected by the Cylinder Head heat. The Bosch style are about 1/4" shorter, but FIC modifyies them for TPI.
On your '85, you also have a cold start injector, and they are prone to leaking. Pretty hard to find replacements. Jon at FIC can attempt to clean/rebuild yours. This could also be your problem.
