Can a mass air system be converted to a speed density system? If yes, what needs to be done to achieve this coversion?
Thanks,
Mike

There's a ton of info if you use the search feature.

Go to the main page of this website: https://www.thirdgen.org/

Look on the left side at the tech articles section, then read the link about converting from MAF to Speed Density.

Come back here if you have more questions.

Re: Mass air to Speed Density conversion

There are three ways to do the conversion.
1. Completely swap in a MAP harness from a donor 90 to 92 TPI MAP car.

2. Repin your MAF harness to MAP. (not easy and requires a lot of advanced skills)

3. Purchase a convertor harness from Street and Performance(By far the easiest way to do it. See this link from there catalog.

Use the links on the side and go to page 66.

Re: Mass air to Speed Density conversion

1. Check the pinouts in the firewall on an 88-89 MAF harness compared to a 90-92 MAP harness. They're different and you will be connecting a 12v power source straight to a ground source. That'll give you a direct short and a nice smoke show.
