400/tpi motor code 33. Can it be the tune?
400/tpi motor code 33. Can it be the tune?
I have a 400 motor that was rebuilt to stock 1979 specs (nothing crazy) that uses a painless TPI wirring harness. Every sensor, relay, and the injectors (22 LBS) was bought new from GM about 10 years ago and this complete set up has about 3K miles on it. Since the TPI conversion was done it has an intermitent code 33 problem that is tough to solve ( I just found this site)
I just searched and found the code 33 flow chart and will check things out tonight. I noticed a few people with modified engines stated that the only way they solved the code 33 issue was to burn a new prom.
Would a stock 400 motor require a custom prom?
The motor starts right up and runs and drives great with plenty of power, but the engine light will come on intermitently and they you have to feather the gas at a red light to keep it from stalling. If it stalls (or you shut it off) you can start it back up and it will run fine untill next time the light comes on.
Hopefully I can solve this by using the flow chart. I'm not worried about chaging a few sensors or the maf if need be,but having to get a prom burned would open up a whole new can of worms.
Thanks for any advice you may have.
