Got a question about bosch injectors..

I used the search function. But I didn't see any specific info on the type injectors I'm installing. They are bosch... I believe they are bosch II style. They are yellow top 19lbs and have a metal body.
I read that the bosch's are about a 1/4inch shorter. Most of the threads I read were about for bosch III style(plastic body). And Southbay injectors stated that you have to double up the o-rings on the manifold side to make up for them being shorter.
I can re-use my injector clips in the fuel rail. But these injectors are shorter on this side.
So... here's my question and asking for re-assurance...
Do I still double up the o-rings on this style? (so that it eliminates the inj clips on the rail)
Or are these direct replacement injectors?
I just want to figure out before I put it all together. I've ran in to so many speed bumps on this project that if it did leak... I'd probably let it catch on fire and do a ritual dance around it! Just joking.......

Re: Got a question about bosch injectors..

Well Fuel Injection Connection has the correct length Bosch 3 style injectors for our cars. I just purchased a set of 32# for my next build. They are flow matched by the way. You can use the shorter ones but you need to be careful during the installation or you will have a full leak like you described.

Re: Got a question about bosch injectors..

I think I just found my answer after searching some more. FIC says that on the bosch II I have to use the extra o-ring on the manifold side. And other posts state that I don't re-use the injector clips. Is this correct?
Everything fits tight together. Except the injector doesn't seem to go into the rail very far. If I double up the o-rings on the bottom and remove the clips on top. I think it'll push them in and seal everything up good. I'll make sure to test for leaks before I get it all together.
I feel good about thinkin my injectors were bad. 6 out of the 8 the pintle caps stayed in the manifold. And I got them out and they just crumbled in my hands. I think I'll see a huge improvement on my car...

Re: Got a question about bosch injectors..

I would call Fuel Injector Connection for information. They can be reached at 770-888-1662. Here is their website info. http://fuelinjectorconnection.com

Something as important as leaking fuel I don't want to give advice on as that is not my area of expertise. I know enough to be dangerous. That is why I'm refering you to the experts.

By the way I'm currently running 30# Bosch 2's with no problems.

i have put in many of these in my shop. if you use the clip which i recomend then use the slot closest to the upper oring for the clip.. the o ring will seal and the clips will hold the injector up a little from the manifold but the bottom o ring will still seal in the manifold bore. I do not recomend the daul o ring on the des 2 bosch. This will work fine.. remember the bottom is only vac not fuel and as long as the bottom is in the bore and the clips are in the top you are good to go.

Re: Got a question about bosch injectors..

(irocuroc) That makes sense. The injector on the rail side is only under constant pressure. I went ahead and just installed the injectors just like I would stock ones. No extra o-ring or anything and I also re-used the stock clips on top. No leaks that I see. I'll keep an eye on them. But I wiggled them and still didn't get any leaks. Thanks for the help. My car has takin another small baby step to being able to drive on the road again
