TPI on an old block?

If you look to the left, you will see I still have the baby 305... I mentioned to a friend that I was considering a cam swap, he said he probably has a 350 block laying around that I can have for free. My only concern is that I won't be able to use the stock TPI setup. Would all the bolts line up? Would all the plugs on the wiring harness have a spot to plug into? Is there anything else that may make it difficult to do the swap? I really don't want to switch to a carb setup. Is this even possible?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: TPI on an old block?

its possible.................. but for the work and money you would get better results with a set of headers,a cam and a custom chip.thats if your motor is good.

Re: TPI on an old block?

Free is a good price... especially on a usable 350 motor. So with that said, what kind of work are we talking about here? Are the bolts just at a different agnle or something, or would a lot of things not match up? The biggest thing I'm concerned about is if and how all the electronics will hook up.

If I get this motor, I plan on doing a 383/396 upgrade right away.

Re: TPI on an old block?

the bolt angle your talking about has to do with the heads you use.that can be fixed, other than that they are the same 305-350.there are two different styles for each motor they went piece rear main and different dipstick after 87.the heads all interchange.87 up has a different intake bolt angle in the center.there are workarounds for that. but tpi will work on it no problem.

a 383 is gonna run you some cash and depending on how its built the tpi will become a restriction and you'll have to upgrade the tpi intake, throttlebody, runners, and run you some serious money
