Might buy a 305, any help is appreciated

Hi everyone,

First off I'll say I'm new to the forums, so go easy on me

I've been looking at a '91 305 (automatic) the past few weeks and am heavily considering purchasing it. I figured the best people to ask would be you guys here on the forums. The seller is asking $850. 175k miles on the body and 50k miles on the motor (motor was previously rebuilt). It does have the overheating issue; I've read that's a common problem. The headgasket is not leaking, the radiator is new, and it still has the plastic piece connected to it for air flow (I'm assuming it might be the water pump, thermostat, or a clogged cat?). Also, the tachometer does not work.

Nonetheless, I was hoping you guys could check out some of the pictures and let me know if you think it's a decent purchase. It needs a paint job desperately, and it does have rust spot on the driver's side area of the roof. Let me know if you guys think this will be a sound purchase:

Any and all help is appreciated.

Wrong forum - not a TPI but anyways:

Be sure to check the undercarriage as well. Mine's body is in much better shape then that and you wouldn't want to see what it looks like under the car.

Other then that - it doesn't look to bad for the price.
That rust hole looks nasty - but maybe it's not a hard fix - I'm not a bodywork person.
