tpi has fuel in it is this normal
just bought a 88 with 305 tpi the guysaid it wont start because the egr valve is bad. well i can see that the wire is boke off nort sure if this will cause a no start problem. so i looked in the intake by the maf sensor and i could see a pudle of fuel in there is that right or is there something else going on. I would like to listen to it run b4 my son and i take out the 305 and put a 350 carb in her. thank you .
Re: tpi has fuel in it is this normal
EGR valve won't keep a car from starting. There shouldn't be fuel anywhere in a TPI setup since the injectors spray the fuel almost directly into the cylinder head port. Something else is going on.

Check your fuses under the steering wheel, my ARC fuse blew and my timing jumped and wouldnt start. Make sure to check your timing that would also cause fuel to buildup in the intake I believe.
Re: tpi has fuel in it is this normal
You need to figure out why there is fuel in the intake system BEFORE you try to start it. You could have a back fire and cause an explosion. I would start by pulling off the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator. If it is wet you have a bad diaphragm in the regulator and a replacement is needed. I would bet that this is your problem.

Trust me when I say this. Puddles of fuel in the intake = Do not start. I have the burn marks to prove my statement. Like AaronIROCZ said oull the vacuum line the intake plenum see if it is wet then if it is replace the diaphragm. make sure you put the bolt back and torque them right though. I don't want to see anyone else go down the road I went down period.
