Wiring a stand alone TPI in a Jeep
My question is what wires should be connected in order to power up and run. I have all the sensors connected. I'm needing help with the 12 volt connection to the computer. I have a fused 12 volt main power wire and I have the o2 sensor and computer ground connected. Is there any other connections that need to be made? Sorry if I'm not very clear with my question.

Re: Wiring a stand alone TPI in a Jeep
I bought a kit from CustomEFI and the guy fell off the face of the Earth. The computer is # 16196395 and the harness is custom built, I believe it to be a 92 computer with the prom burned to match my system. The system is supposed to be a stand along system. It has one main fused wire that has a tag that says connect to 12Volt 24/7. Then it also has a heavy black ground and the O2 also has a ground. The rest of the wiring goes to all the sensors; O2, MAP, TPS, ATS, Coolent Temp, Knock, Idle, etc. My older style GM distributor was also connverted to work with this computer and harness, it all plugs together very nicely. I'm not understanding how the computer interfaces with the vehicles ignition when there is only the one 12Volt main power connection and nothing else connected to the key on position. The only thing I can think of is that the distributer does this somehow? I'm trying to gain clarity on what wires are necessary before connect the battery and turn the key, Im at the end of a long project build and I don't want any meltdowns. Thanks for any help. Glenno

That ECM is listed as 94 truck w/TBI
In any case you should have permanent 12V supply(s) to the ECM and a switched (ign ) supply as well
See these typical ECM pinouts; top of page

Maybe ask over on 3rd Gen DIY Prom if someone has the ECM pinouts for your 16196395 ECM so you can see which wire is the switched 12V input?

Thanks for the links. I started to really examine the wiring on my harness and I'm starting to think that the guy wired it somehow so the one main 12Volt 24/7 connection powers up everything? Don't know if that's possible?
I found this info about my computer #. What does EPROM type 27C512 mean? Thanks Glenno.

Did you check out the 6396 wiring for comparison with yours as noted in that post over on DFI?
ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/manuals/16196396/
That is chip type used on the plug in memcal had contains the tune .The four letter codes (BHDF ,etc) are the actual tunes that are programmed on that chip. They have the information to run the engine and differences ; auto vs man for one)
