running 85-88 runners on my 89 manifold ???

I know I've read about this no here, but all the info I found had to do with eliminating the injector, not so much with the runners...

...anyhow, I've got a deal pending on some ASM's from an 86 car, and of course I've got an 89. I don't have to deal with any tuning or plumbing, but since I've never studied older runners or manifolds, what exactly is going on with this extra runner? Why would I need to block it off if my manifold doesn't even have a provision for it?

I'm sure if I had them both in front of me I could figure this out!

Thanks,
-Boob

The back of the passenger fuel rail on the 86 have an opening to feed the 9th injector but you shouldn't have that being your is an 89. The only other difference is the hole on the drivers side runner lower mounting forward flange, which you can see in the pic I attached from ebay. If your intake doesn't have the hole for the 9th injector to begin with, as it shouldn't being an 89, then the hole in the runner should have no effect. You can always use a block off kit like the photo if you want to make it look nicer to fill in the hole or make your own since all you need is the plug to fill in the hole in the runner and not the fuel rail plug. I'm running an 89 code on my 86 TPI setup so I used both parts.
