stalling immed. in open loop
When i start my car first thing in the morning, it will idle up for 1 sec, then idle down really quickly to a stall. So if i hold my foot on the throttle at about 1200 rpm or so for anywhere between 30sec to 3 minutes (it varies) the idle will stay consistent at around 700rpm. this was intermittent for a few weeks but now it happens every time i start it when its in open loop. When it goes to closed loop it runs great but if i remember right it has done it once or twice in closed loop when i shut it off and start it back up after a few minutes. no ses light btw.
I recently fixed a code 36 with a new burn off relay. i have a cold air intake, all connections are good. I checked TPS voltage, adjusted min. air. and cleaned the throttle body and IAC passageways 2 days ago, but it still does it every morning.
I was contemplating timing chain or dist. timing but if that was the case the idle/driveability wouldnt be perfect after a few moments of holding the idle up manually right?
I think i will physically take the IAC out and clean/lube it and wait another day and see what happens tomorrow.
In the meantime, any ideas anyone? thanks.

Re: stalling immed. in open loop
Just confirmed today that it does it in closed loop too. It was fully warmed up today, shut it off for 1 minute and it did it again. And i havent taken the IAC out yet. but i cleaned the air passages in the tb with throttle body cleaner. wouldnt that drip down the buildup into the iac and gum it up?

Re: stalling immed. in open loop
i havent had time to work on it. But yesterday, im driving, all of a sudden it chokes out, barely runs on the road, pull over. restart it, runs fine ses light comes on. Go home and check it 21,22,34. turn it off restart it and ses light is off. i checked my tps voltage a few days ago and it was fine, i replaced the burnoff relay. im going to replace the maf power relay too i guess.
The best way i can describe it when it starts really bad like that. is that is sounds like its running with the air boot off the throttle body. Tons of air, but no leaks. i do have a CAI though.
Ill pull my IAC when today and see what happens.
