Anyone tried the L98 supercam from TPIS?
Ok, I am wondering if anyone has tried out this cam and what the results were. I believe this cam is 220/220 @50 and 420/420 lifts. It is supposed to work with the stock computer. Let me know if you tried this cam and what you think. Later

I have no personal experience with it but looking at the specs and considering the price, an LT1 or LT4 might yield similar performance for a LOT less money as they are plentiful in the used parts market.

As far as I know an Lt1 cam is really no different than an L98 cam! and and Lt4 cam is only marginally better than an Lt1 cam. That is why I am asking because the supercam is advertised to give a 35-40 hp increase. I am aware that this is due to the amount of duration it comes with. Supercam duration @.50 = 220/220

The Super L98 cam has relatively mild lift characteristics and is most suited for an otherwise stock engine. Would work well with in an L98 but I don't know about 40 horses from just a cam that size with no head work. Also with that 112 lsa you might run into some vacuum issues more typical of much larger cams.
It all depends on how far you want to go. If that's all you want to do, would be a nice gain. But if you want to get more out of it, and maybe do some heads, you can't go wrong with some of the more aggressive cams out these days. The TPIS cam is old, like most cams that were designed for TPI, they are outdated by todays standards, but still good contenders. Check out the Lingenfelter 219/219 cam http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...Category_Code= might be worth looking into.

L98) 202/207, .413/.428, 114.5 (1.5)
LT1) 205/207, .447/.459, 117 (1.5)
LT4) 203/210, .476/.479, 115 (1.6)
TPI's like lift more than duration. And, the wider the LSA, the easier it is to tune.

Interesting because when I asked TPIS there recommendation for my L98, they told me to put in a ZZ9 cam....
