355 build...need imput

ok so my 350 short block is off to be freshend up. It will probably be .040 over. I'm currently going to put it in front of a 700r4 with a factory convertor. I'm not looking for crazy hp & tq just a mild street motor. I have a set of "brand new" 113 alum corvette heads that i'm using. I plan on having a light port and polish done to the heads and intake. I have a BBK 52mm TB. Talking to my engine builder the motor should be just a touch over 10:1.. what are my options on cam? The cam he sugguests is way too much for a computer to handel. So is what are my options?

http://www.compcams.com Along with planning the build with your machine shop, make a phone call to the cam tech line for free advice.

I have a similar Comp 280 mag roller cam in my NA 6.0 motor. Needs the good stuff and a looser converter. You can choose either one but, you'll have to tune for it, new program too.

Re: 355 build...need imput

i have a 355 with the 212 comp cam. if your running anything over 10:1 your motor wont like anything under 93 octane or may need race fuel. im going with a bigger cam maybe next summer, but make sure the heads are clearanced for the cam you choose. my motor is around 400hp with alot of port work to my iron heads (pre 79 block and heads) do your homework before you start buying parts. esp when it comes to the valvetrain

Re: 355 build...need imput

i can get away with more compression with the aluminum heads.. i always run premium gas anyway.. i had a 10.2 compression 355 cast iron headed motor before and never had any pre detonation issues.... i planned on taking it to a dyno to tune it properly
