TPS what the heck is this voltage?

engine is running like crap and stumped horribly at acceleration of all magnitude. it has gotten progressively worse for the past month.

I am testing the TPS with a voltmeter and here is what happens:

I test A and B, nothing.
I test B and C, nothing.
I test A and C, 5.5V?? I didn't think it went over 5 volts? Maybe i am reading the meter wrong and its really telling me 0.55mA?

i was also told that A-B or B-C is what you measured, not A and C.

I tested the TPS sensor independently for resistance. i get a smooth curve in the meter across the entire sensor's arc.

Please assist me in properly testing the TPS, pictures would be ideal!

i have been using this link so far. http://www.ehow.com/how_4489318_trou...ps-sensor.html

--- ALSO ---

I do not see any way to adjust my TPS (aside from unbolting and rebolting it. I heard non adjustable TPS are for speed density and adjustable are for MAF. How do i tell if mine is the adjustable kind (or am i just being stupid and ignoring the adjustable bolts...) My car is obviously MAF.

While probing the correct wires you loosen ( slightly ) the 2 bolts and move TPS to change the voltage
On the non adjustable types, the ECM takes the "key on" reading as the base number so it doesn't have to be set like for MAF cars
