Need Help...Please?!
Just bought a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am with a 305 TPI. I'm no mechanic but bought this car in hopes of learning a thing or two. The previous owner told me the last time he drove it, it ran just fine. However it has been sitting for about 6 years. The motor will turn over but won't fire. I have already replaced the distributor cap and rotor. Also just replaced the spark plugs and wires. What would be the next step? Also what is the firing order on the distributor cap? On this site I found that it said when facing the front of the car number 1 is at the bottom to the right, then you go clockwise. However there was a circle plastic piece that snaps on to the top that is numbered differently...

If it's been sitting for 6 years, you've probably got gummed up gas in the system. Until you clean out the tank, fuel lines, etc, it's probably not going to fire.
