std hp out of an 1987 l98

ive looked around and is the rated hp on our cars directly correlated by the hp of the vettes? from 87 to 89 there is a 20ish hp jump in rated hp.
when i dynoed my stock l98 in an 87 gta i was hitting a solid 240-245 all day long. so whats the deal is 240ish hp about right for a stock l98?

Yep - 245 was the highest rated hp number on any factory configured 3rd gen F-body. Now, you and I both know, regardless of whether they had the "same engine", that the Vette's always got more go. Some had aluminum heads, maybe exhaust differences, different cams, etc. The Vette is GM's flagship performance car - always has been, always will be - and as such it will always get more go installed.

Absolutely. The vette got aluminum heads for sure, and bigger air inlet. All good for about 20hp over the same year F-body. I don't remember the cam being different but I'm not a big vette fan.

Re: std hp out of an 1987 l98

im buying a vette motor its a 1988 L98 350 and just so happens to have the aluminum heads and i checked for that year it was rated at 240hp so what u are saying is that if i dyno the car it should have a little bit more horsepower

hello all, i just bumped into the thread and am unsure how everything works so far but was wondering what you guys thought about the 1987 l98? its of said to be in my car and im wanting to do some work to it and want to go abouts it in an easy and quick manner to enjoy for a bit before i restore it to factory. its an iroc, longs story short i was looking to go from tpi to carberated and was wondering if there are any little inexpensive tweeks to get some more power for sunny days
