Injectors stuck open... HELP!!!
Just rebuilt my engine and put around 75 miles on it. Well, I parked and when I went to restart it, it almost instantly flooded... so I pulled the spark plugs and let it sit for a while. Well I went to start it, and it just soaked the spark plugs instantly, and will not start. What would cause this?'
I have 24lb accel blue top injectors, and a BBK FPR on top of a mess of other things. 24lb injectors are about 8 years old with about 12k miles.
Could it be the Regulator Diapram? I sure hope so, as the superram is a PITA to pull and the gaskets are around 50 bucks...
Maybe the Injectors stuck open? Which I cant see happening as fuel is dumping in all the cylinders.

I am lost. I literally drove it an hour before I didn't start.

Does it get spark? An engine needs 3 things to run:fuel, air and spark. You have established that there is fuel, and air is a given, lol, so now check for the missing element...

Was never crazy about Accel injectors, that beeing said if the fpr was leaking I think you would see it back up in the vac line. Does the rail hold pressure? Hope someone else chimes in for you.

The rail holds pressure for a while, maybe a very slow leak, but I would assume that is normal.

Regulator diaphragms do dry out, you might want to check it. Check all of your sensors, if one of them is bad your computer will be receiving incorrect info.

Long story, but stick with me..
Picked up a 88 IROC 'vert in a trade..
Went through 10 years of GM Dealership receipts trying to figure out the problem, mostly after the car had already been warmed up, it would flood itself and refuse to start for over an hour..
Did a bunch of research, changed around $300 in parts, mostly to help it run better..
Turns out the coolant temp sensor in the intake for the ECM was reading -180*C..
GM Dealer changed just about every part imaginable, even the fuel pump.
Try changing your temp sensor.

Car is not pulling any codes... won't start. Floods instantly. I don't see it being the temp sensor. I will fiddle around more and will change it if it comes down to it. I don't see it being the diaphram either as it holds the fuel pressure in the rail.

Okay, changed computers, and the chip. No change.
Unplugged an injector wire, no fuel came out, some injectors should be fine. Hooked up a multimeter to the injector wires... read fine.

Re: Dumping Fuel... Wont Start? HELP!!!
I did notice that the fuel pressure is a bit on the low side. Prob from not being able to build pressure because of the injectors being stuck open.
Re: Dumping Fuel... Wont Start? HELP!!!
Hate to see you toss money at it but may be a good idea to have them checked and cleaned, or maybe just have them replaced. Just a thought

That is going to be a last resort... I know that isn't the prob though.

So listen, why don't you send your injectors to us. We will put them on the bench and check them out....No charge. It will be one more thing that you can eliminate.

Re: Injectors stuck open... HELP!!!
i would try something simple like....
connect fuel pressure gauge, see what psi is there, then turn key on and see what happens, if it drops it's a bad injector(s)
i had one get stuck wide open and hydrolock the motor...
been running FMS 42lb injectors without issue

I can't send them out. I would, but I leave back for japan on the 28th. They are all stuck open, so I don't believe. The injectors are the issue.

Re: Injectors stuck open... HELP!!!
It's highly unlikely that all 8 injectors would suffer the same failure simultaniously. I would disconnect all eight and check injector pulse, better yet use a lab scope and look at injector waveform to be sure it's okay.
Be aware, once spark plugs become fuel fouled, they will not fire, even if the flooding is resolved. You may have a defective coolant temp sensor that caused it to flood initially, now the fouled plugs will never start the motor. You'll need to replace them. First check ECM with a scan tool, key on engine off, look for CTS to be way off. Someone said -180C, I don't know about that, the ECM will default to -34F if the CTS is open. That will cause the engine to severely overfuel, enough to flood the engine. Try clear flood, that's holding your foot to the floor while cranking. This shuts the injectors down to clear any excess fuel from the motor.
