Re: Converting
If you switch to serpentine, you'll have to also change water pump, A/C compressor, P/S pump, smog pump, and alternator. So it's a bigger task than just brackets and pulleys.
Serp system uses a reverse rotation water pump, V belt uses standard rotation.
Serp system P/S pump itself is the same, but the housing (resevoir) has bolt holes in different locations - more than likely you'll have to get another one, and it's easier to just get the entire pump/resevoir assembly rather than trying to seperate the pump and getting the different resevoir.
Serp system A/C uses a shorter/fatter A/C compressor on the pass side, if you retain A/C you'll have to get another compressor - the V belt compressor will not bolt to the serp bracket, and if even it did, wouldn't fit because of the pass valve cover location in relationship to the serp bracket.
Serp system has an entirely different alternator on the driver side - the bolt holes are in different locations for mounting (serp has holes at 12oclock and 8oclock, V belt has them at 12oclock and 6oclock) - so you have to get a serp alternator.
Smog pump I assume is also different, at least in respect to mounting - I haven't had a smog pump for years, so I'm not 100% on this, but I'm confident the mounting would be different since EVERYTHING else is different.
You'd need a crank pulley from a serp car as well.
So - in the end, your looking at $500 minimum (without A/C) to swap. IMO, the serp brackets are fugly, big bulky impossible to keep clean/nice looking. I have a 1992 car, I had serp brackets, I tossed those big fugly suckers in the trash and went to the 1/2 serp 1/2 vbelt setup like the 1987 cars had. I'm running just alternator, P/S pump, Water pump. And it's a very nice clean install. I have a serp belt from crank to w/p to alt, and a v belt from crank to w/p to p/s pump.
There's nothing stronger or better about serp belt systems if that was your thought. 800hp motors were using V-belts long before serp belts were around. If it were me, I'd seriously pass on the serp setup and keep what you've got.

Re: Converting
well my brackets are all pretty shot from the PO or poor mechanic he had alt bracket looks bent and such and i have issues with my ac pulley so i was thinking about just going to serpentine since i had to replace a few things anyways i thought there was a popular vortec motor or something i could pull everything i needed to do the swap at the bone yard but i guess not....
