Best way to go about a TPI build?

So although it's a while away before I can do this, I eventually plan to swap out my 305 TBI for a 350 TPI setup, and I'm just doing a bit more homework on the matter now!

I've done a bit looking into the possible routes I can go w/this car, but have ultimately decided to stick with a Gen 1 SBC. For emission inspections, and for personal aesthetic taste, I want to use a TPI system.

At this point, I'm basically just wondering if the best way to go for a TPI 350 would be to search through craigslist/salvage yards for a used motor (to use as a core, or possibly find a good one), or if I should just find a good, rebuilt 350 longblock assembly, and throw a TPI system/wiring harness on it from a Third gen? I'm mainly just curious about my options. I used to see a fair share of 350 TPI engines pop up for sale, but they seem to be getting less common in the for sale ads around here.
