86 IROC-Z project

So I am starting a project, actually have the first bit done. Got an 86 Iroc Z28 with a 5.7 tpi swapped in. And now it has a rod knockin. So time to rebuild to eat stangs another day. Just started getting the small **** out of the way today, motor will be out by sunday. But i need some help. How much can I bump up the compression and power before I need to worry about the computer feeding it. I was told it had a hypertech chip in it, never checked nor do I know what I am looking for. Oh and smog pump is gone, along with cat. Where can I get a true dual from manifold kit? I am just looking to build a 325-350 horse car, It will have a new crank, forged pistons, I beam rods, still undecided on the specific cam just yet. Probably a 3 angle valve job. bored out... not sure how far I can go before I start running into computer issues. Carbing the car is out of the question. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 86 IROC-Z project

Probably want to re-post this in the TPI Engine forum.

AFAIK, you can do whatever you want to the engine as long as you get a new custom-burned chip to accommodate what you've changed. Could be dead wrong here, but that would be my guess.
