Fuel pump, relay, and harness replaced now battery dies

1992 GTA 5.0 5spd

so we put a new fuel pump, relay and fuel pump wiring harness on the car after my son called and said it wouldn't start. Started up after priming and ran great. Sat at home for an hour or so and went to start it and the battery was dead. Jump start and away he goes...15 minutes later I get a call the car died and won't start. Jump start and straight to Autozone. Battery is dead...1 hour later after they charged it and we put it back in the battery is not charging (car started up great). Take off the alternator and test it...it is fine.

Put the alternator back in and car won't start. Fuel pump doesn't seem to be working. Put a new relay on and still nothing.

What now? It is sitting in the Auto Zone parking lot.

Autozone tested my friends alternator 2 times and it checked out fine. Had the same exact problem you are having. I used my current clamp and saw 0 amps coming from his alternator when the car was running. Checked every related circuit with my multimeter. Because the alternator was tested twice and came out OK, he didn't want to buy a new alt.

He took it to a shop, sure enough it was the alternator. Don't trust Autozone's alternator testing.

That's all good and well but why is it not starting now when it has plenty of juice or my truck jumping it?

May have killed the battery from constant deep cycling.

your car need amps and volts. I went though the same crap w a autozone clown once. he told me a alt uses volts 2 make amps or something like that.. I just laffed my **** off and left. only buy oil an filters there if no other choice.

Recharge the battery, replace alternator.
