i have a 1987 gta tht i just bought a accell distributer,coil, and wires for. I just put everything in made sure the distributer went in the right way did the timing again ect. it idles at 700-1k rpm and when i put it into reverse it drops to like 2-400rpm and same with drive except in drive it somtimes stalls out. the car ran fine before the new ignition system in it idk if i adjusted the idle to much or what. also before i did any of this to the car the engine would surge at idle 500-1k rpm back and forth only in drive and when the brake is held(waiting for a green light) when driven doesnt surge. not a vacuum leak checked with carb cleaner any help will be apprecaited

 

my camaro does the same thing. i just set the idle up higher so it doesnt stall. let me know if u figure it out

 

Also when the car is in park just idling it will kill its self out after like 2-3 minutes of idle like i turned the key off no back fire no rough idle just die
