my old l98 dyno numbers and video
here is the only video i have with my l98 being on the dyno.... this video is over three years old... this video was taken nov 4th 2008... mind you i had no suspension mods whatsoever....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi0zgKjFZ08
back when this was taken i was about 18 and pretty new at the whole modding your car thing..
This was a 350 mild tpi build and it made 213whp by 283wtq... sadly the engine blew up on the dyno.. the ******* had spinned the **** out of the motor..i had to get a tow truck to take the car back home which was about 80 miles from my house... very upsetting day...but im still trying figure out why my numbers were so low.....i do know that the block had well over 150,000 miles on it and i was running 87 gas at the time.. here are the mods at the time of the video
stock l98 motor
rebulit heads
crane 2032 cam
adjustable fuel regulator
slp cold air intake
ported plenum
slp runners
edelbrock base
hedman longtube headers
flowmaster catback
probuilt 700r4
corvette stall

dyno's dont hurt motors. Bad tunes hurt motors. Over revving hurts motors. Beating up old parts hurts motors.
With your new setup there should be no issue with running it on the dyno. With those mods you had before, its likely it was to lean, just like how your current motor is. Tune would help
My old L98 with 150K miles on it made 254whp 315wtq with just bolt ons
Was running lean too. More fuel and I bet it would have picked up 10whp

Re: my old l98 dyno numbers and video
yeah the guy who tuned my motor i think really didnt know what he was doing.. in the video he kept jacking up the fuel pressure till it was 60 with the vac line on.. .. back then i really didnt have a clue how to do much on the car... so i left it up to the guy to hopefully do it right..
im MUCH more knowledge able now... heck i built the engine and everything else on that car myself including all the suspension work...before i get on the dyno this time im going to make sure air to fuel ratio is good.... this is why i went to pcmforless. they have an excellent reputation... in fact mario andretti gets his stuff tuned by the same guy who is tuning my car... so i know im in good hands now...

I'm confident they can get the tune down on a street tune. It would help if you had a wideband o2 sensor, but they can get it much better than the current tune. It should make great numbers! I hope 300whp

Re: my old l98 dyno numbers and video
well i want to get dyno numbers this fall or winter.. i want to see if i can break the 300whp mark with unported l98s... there is a guy on youtube who has a tpi swapped fiero he made 304whp by 366wtq.. with his afr 180 heads i would have thought with that combo he should be closer to 330-340whp...
here are his mods
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiBHBI1wQT0
Engine is a 355 with 10:1 compression 1 1/2" block hugger Sanderson CC90 headers 2.5" true dual exhaust 52mm ported TB Ported upper plenum (by Corvette Plenums) AS&M big runners Edelbrock TPI base AFR new Eliminator 180cc heads Summit 1.6 full roller rockers Competition Cams new XFI 268 cam
similar builds..

Re: my old l98 dyno numbers and video
Yeah those are low numbers. Headers probably killed some of it since there isnt much room in a fiero. Could have been mustang dyno which kills off 20-30whp sometimes.
