TPI Runners

I have been trying to remove the runners on my 91 Z28 5.7 and I know I have all the torx bolts out even the hidden ones. I can wiggle the right side but it won't come out, and the left side is solid, I can't even move it. Does anybody have any suggestions on removing the runners without damaging them. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: TPI Runners

if you are sure all the bolts are out it could be the gaskets adhering the runner to the intake. You can start tapping the runner on the plenum surface side with a dead blow hammer or use a 2x4 and place it flat against the plenum to runner surface and hit it that way don't be too forceful just enough to break this seal. You should have removed 6 bolts connecting this to the intake.

Re: TPI Runners

There are only 4 bolts on top and 4 bolts on bottom. Man I hope im right about this. On the bottom connected to the intake manifold there are 3 on the outside and 1 on the inside of the runners. Thanks for the pointers though. I have been using a rubber mallet.

Re: TPI Runners

There are 6 per side. **One bolt per side is hidden and only accessed from inside the manifold area. The one for the passenger side is accessed near the thermostat housing area, and the one for the driver.s side is accessed between the fuel pressure regulator and the distributor.

Re: TPI Runners

Thanks so much and you were right, there are 6 bolts on each side. I was missing the very bottom ones that you have to take off valve covers to reach them. Thanks again.
