vortec pcm and harness, with tpi

I have an 86 iroc with a 305 thats seen its better days.... I planned on using a vortec 350 out of a 1997 chevy 1500,rebuilding it and running the tpi injection on it with the SDPC lower intake...

What I was woundering because from what i've read the newer style ecm's work a bit better, could I use the harness and ecm and everything from the vortec? rather than repin the harness...and what all it would take to do it?

I looked at the plugs on the throttle body for the TPS and IAC from my lt1 and i think it has the same plugs as the vortec? If so I could just use the tb from my lt1 along with the MAF from the vortec?

Will it even work? and any problems i'de run into doing this?

same thing im in the process of doing. researched it for the last 3 yrs now. only thing i find may be an issue is the egr set up. need a remote mounting and plumbing to go with it. my brother said that the vortec egr valve fits the newer fwd v6 remote mount set up so it may be an option. other thing is what transmission? think you need the pcm programmed for the rear gear set as well.

all fine and dandy. myself i like the egr system. makes the engine run better, more efficiently. lol. plus gm spent millions in research and decided it should be there so heck why not. besides it one least thing to have programmed out at high cost. id rather have the speed limiter removed and gear change in the rear programmed, passlock removed instead. let me know how your swap goes as im still building my harness. only have an hr a day so takes awhile to assemble the motor, trans, and stand alone harness. lol

Correction
GM put it there because of the FEDs
not because they spent millions working out it was a good thing to have
Not seeing a lot of EGR valves on NASCAR engines

"Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide emissions reduction technique used in petrol/gasoline and diesel engines.
EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders.

[1]Because NOx forms primarily when a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen is subjected to high temperature,
the lower combustion chamber temperatures caused by EGR reduces the amount of NOx the combustion generates.

2]. Most modern engines now require exhaust gas recirculation to meet emissions standards".

Re: vortec pcm and harness, with tpi

better gas mileage.... can care less for emissions purposes as our air gets shitted on by japan / china anyways. i didnt say he couldnt delete his. i have to still pass the sniffer so its just a better option for me. better to assume you have to follow the law then to try to hide it.

i know what an egr system is/ does. replace 10 egr coolers a week at work on average.
