Re: best torque converter for l98.

I had an Edge converter with my old 383SBC combo and was very happy with it. Never had any issues, great bang for the buck. I sent it back once to be cleaned and inspected after grenading a transmission and they were very easy to deal with and had a quick turn around time. Not my first choice for an all out race converter but for street or street/strip they are great.

Re: best torque converter for l98.

I've had 3 different converters in my car. I still think that it is one of the best mods I have made. It really woke the car up. I have an all stock L98 with full exhaust from the headers on back. I also cut out the bellows in the stock air box.

I've had a 2200rpm stall, 2500 rpm stall, and 2400 rpm stall. I like the 2400 rpm stall converter that I have now. I have that in combination with a bowtie overdrives level 3 700r4. I'm very satisfied with it. At light and moderate throttle it drives lock the stock. From half to full throttle the engine spins up quickly and gets in the powerband and stays there while you are picking up speed.

Stock stall for our cars is around 1600rpm-1700rpm I think. So at least get a converter that has 2000rpm stall. What other mods did you want to make to your car?

Edge converters are pretty good. I ran the custom street edge for 500 bucks in my L98. 2800 stall. It was perfect. No issues, probably 20K miles. Then had it rebuilt/restalled to 3600 for my 383 and ran that for a year of racing with and without nitrous I got a 3200 in my LS1 daily driver, well over 15000 miles on it now, many WOT passes and strip launches...works well so far. I like Edge
