fan relay same as fuel pump relay?
Ok my car doesn't exactly have any issues at the moment i'm just trying to maintain the car.
Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1986 trans am 5.0 FI automatic?
I have 3 relays bunched together side by side in the driver side corner of the firewall. I already replaced 2 which were the power and burnoff relay for the air sensor.
But the other relay has a number of 10038311. I've looked it up and the cooling fan relay and fuel pump has come up a few times.
I also have a chiltons book and it is alittle contradicting so if someone can just give me a straight answer that would be great.
and if that number is only for one relay then what is the other number or location?

Re: fan relay same as fuel pump relay?
i have spare relays on my bench from tpi parts. looks like the cooling fan relay is 10038311
and the fuel pump relay is 14078915.
but the 10038311 is located in the corner with burnoff and power relay on the firewall.
so where the heck is the fuel pump relay? i do not see any other location in the engine bay
the previous owner had heating issues and he messed up the cooling fan with an aftermarket relay near the fan to have the fan always on when the car is driven.
im in the process of fixing this but being certain where each correct relay is, is my first priority.

Re: fan relay same as fuel pump relay?
the wiring to the aftermarket relay is the correct colors for the fan relay connection, looks like the guy hacked off the plastic connector and hard wired this relay to keep the fan always on.
the wiring to what might be the fuel pump relay that has the cooling fan number is very old dirty and mangled with bare wire showing and very little slack to pull and see what the colors are.
once its light out ill try to clean it up and see what the colors are without damaging the wires sooner.
i knwo it seems like im answering my own questions i guess im just looking for alittle confirmation for those who know what i am asking.
