88 TPI Fuel Pump Test Connector

I have hunted for this connector for 30 minutes and I cannot find it. By searching the forum I was able to locate the fuel pump relay on the drivers side firewall. Based on the information I read it should just be hanging by the relay. Where is this connector at? The car is stock.

Thanks for the help!

Re: 88 TPI Fuel Pump Test Connector

With key on, engine off my fuel pressure is 37. This explains why the car starts hard. Engine running it's at 29. According to the shop manual I need pinch off the fuel return line and apply battery power to the fuel pump test connector with the ignition off and note the pressure. If below 40 then pump is bad. If above 47 the regulator is bad.

I cannot find this fuel pump test connector. I think it's a red wire somewhere around the relay.

Re: 88 TPI Fuel Pump Test Connector

I think what you're looking for is this connector:

It is a red wire with a not-connected connector in the wiring harness by the brake booster. If you found the pump relay, this wire is connected to its socket - just follow it to the other end.

With the car ignition off, you can run the fuel pump by connecting this wire to battery +. (Won't work if the pump relay is missing.) I'll see if I can snap a pic of it tonight.

---------- edit --------

Here's the pic of the connector. Dyno Don's post below may tell the reason you can't find it, but I posted this here for the next guy who searches on the topic:

Re: 88 TPI Fuel Pump Test Connector

They didn't put it under the hood until '90.
It should be pin G in your ALDL connector under the dash on an '88.

You could tap into it at the relay plug tho.
