just pulled my l98 and i am going to get the block machined and ready for a 383 stroker kit, anybody have any key things i should know before wasting money or parts that i will need to replace besides what the kit involves, also thinking of the eagle stroker kit does anybody have anyother suggestions?

Well I assume who ever is machining the block will install new freeze out plugs, galley plug, cam berrings, etc into your core. That is common practice. But as far as other parts, for just the bottom end no. However you have to know already have an idea of the head you are going to use for your compression. I don't know if your reusing your old heads or buying others but this is important. It will dictate what rotating kit you are buying ( flat top pistons, dished pistons, etc).
Some questions though... Cast or Forged? How much power is this bottom end supporting? Buying a balnced/unbalanced kit? 6inch/5.7inch rods?
I used an eagle kit with mine. I heard great things about scat though. My crank was fat. I had to use undersized bearings. I heard this is common with eagle. However I didnt have to clearence the block much. I got the kit unbalanced and had it balanced by my machinest. It will cost a little extra to go this route, but I feel it's worth it for longativity.

i was going to get forged aluminum pistons and new heads but i havent decided on the heads yet, still doing my research and learning the different types and all, i dont understand the bottom end supporting? i was gonna buy balanced but still have in balanced. with the eagle kit am i limited to certain cams? whats the differences you get between 5.7 and 6.0 inch rods? compression?
