L98 bogs when revving in open loop
L98 bogs when revving in open loop
Hi guys, I actually came from corvetteforum.com because nobody over there could help me with my problem, and it seems that the camaro and firebird guys are more into modding and diagnosis than they are.
Anyway, 1985 Corvette L98, it has a mini ram, zz409 flat tappet cam, long tube headers, cat delete, msd 8.5mm ignition wires, descreened maf sensor, air filter cut lid mod, k&n air filter, dynomax ultra flo mufflers, 3.75s in the rear, timing bumped to 10* BTDC, TB coolant bypass, secondary air injection system delete and egr delete.
So, even when it was stock it was doing this. I just want to focus on stock problems here because I am confident it isn't anything I did.
When it is cold and in open loop under 160* F, when you rev it, it will go very very lean for a second, bog down, and kick back up, which is frustrating when driving in open loop because the car feels like it has no power, very hesistant.
I have an innovate AFR gauge and wideband o2 sensor, and the gauge reads 22.4:1 (max reading) when revving, and then gets richer where it should be.
I have tested fuel pressure, maf sensor, cts sensor, timing, vacuum leaks, mat sensor, new ignition wires, new cap and rotor, new plugs gapped correctly. Just can't seem to figure this one out, and no one I take it to can not even people with automotive bachelors degrees and ASE master certifications!
No one on corvetteforum has come up with a solution either. Please help it is really annoying!
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

With those mods I'd guess you need to increase the injector size. 22Lb stock? TPS showing correct reading and response?
