383 build with questions
383 build with questions
I have 1987 iroc 350 tpi car. Out of curiousity.....are there any general camshaft parameters that I have to adhere to to work well with the stock computer? Id like to make 440-460 hp at the flywheel if possible. And I believe the factory heads use an odd bolt angle on the center two intake manifold bolts. Are there heads out there specific to this type of build? Or do people usually use the gen 1 small block chevy aftermarket for their head choices.....Lastly, what is a good intake manifold and fuel pump recommendation for this type of power? Thankyou for all your help!!!!!!

Re: 383 build with questions
Comp Cams offers a few XFI grinds that will work with a factory ecm. You should really have a custom tune done though if you plan on adding a cam, heads, and an aftermarket intake. There are heads out there that will fit either the 87 and up style like you described or the older style before that. Are you planning on keeping the tpi set up on the car or going aftermarket? An aftermarket tpi set up can do 460 hp with some work, but it would much easier with a shorter runner intake like a mini ram. Any 255 or 340 lph fuel pump should be good enough for that power level.

Re: 383 build with questions

But the parts (H/C /intake ) needed to do that sure ain't going to run on a stock tune
