need help with 87 5.7 tpi camaro
hey guys its been a while since I have been on lost my motivation after my ex wife made my 82 t top Camaro a cube.....
long story short
as a house warming gift my father found a 87 5.7 TPI iroc z28 that has been about half modified to be a race car. as far as I can tell the previous owner at least installed a Pontiac suspension to include both axles
what I need help with is where to start the car has been sitting for aproximatly 8 years the body is clean the class is great but there is half a roll cage and 1 seat the only decent parts is the hurst shifter and the drivers seat and dash the rest is either gone or needs to be replaced
I have a small budget right now so I cant go out and get parts or tools so best I can do is start to clean it but what should I start on?
should I tear the entire motor apart and replace all gaskets and seals?

if you dont like the cage, take that out first. its more cost efficient to take parts out than to replace them. I'd wait to see if the motor starts and how bad of shape its in to consider doing gaskets, they may all be fine. you can get a set of used 4th gen seats for pretty cheap on craigslist or the junk yard. IMO its harder to find 25+ old seats for our cars for cheap

Sitting 8 years, I'd seriously consider dropping the tank and taking a look in side, mine to has pretty much sat for the past 8-10 years, just getting fired up every few months and run up and down the roads out here in the country...a few months ago, no start..no fuel pressure, filter plugged up due to moisture accumulating in the tank and rusting it up...pump is about 1/2 dead, sending unit shot, etc.
We get hot and cold here, but not more than 30-40 % humidity at it's worse...might be prudent to check the tank out before trying to fire it off.
