Stock Vortec Spider Injection intake

I'm not quite sure if this belongs in this board or another one, if not I apologize.

I've been looking around for TPI intake manifolds for the engine I'm building that's going to have vortec heads, but everywhere I am seeing its $300-$400+ which is a bit out of my price range. my car, currently is the 3.1l MFI system (91 Camaro RS), and I will be doing a swap I know the ECM can be used for the v8 TPI setup with the change of the EPROM.

My question is, could I go to the local wrecking yard, get a stock vortec intake with MPFI spiders(Not poppet spiders) and wire the injectors to be batch fired like the TPI? (1,3,5,7. 2,4,6,8) and run them into the correct placement on the wiring harness. And are there any other mods I would need to do to get it to work correctly.

Thanks for any info you guys can give.

You might have to do alot of searching to find one with a MPFI spider. The MPFI spider was an upgrade replacement that never came on an OEM V8 in the US. I have worked on probably 50+ of the 96-2002 Vortecs and only run across a few of them. I put one in my Express van and my brothers 99 Tahoe came to him with one already installed. The factory spider setup is JUNK to be quite honest and very limited in both RPM and HP. I put a L31 Marine intake on my Express in place of the OEM CSFI setup. All the garbage in the plenum prevents the engine from breathing well. I gained nearly 1,000 rpm of useable rpm range going away from the factory intake.

Ahh, I thought they swapped the systems after several years of them being horrible. If that isn't a good route to take what would you recommend? I was looking at this, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wnd-7542/overview/ but its a tad bit out of my price range (I was hoping to spend like $200 on the intake)
