So my friend says he can get me an ATK/Spartan reman 350 for $1450 after tax and the core charge waived. So I at least get to keep the old engine. A guy is going to do the install for $400. So I figure after oil, antifreeze and gaskets, I'm looking at $2000. Not too bad. Everything being transferred from the old engine is basically new ( dizzy, coil, icm, plugs and wires, waterpump and alternator. Plus new injectors. Might as well put a new starter on it while it's out. All synthetic oil and orange antifreeze going in. Not familiar with the ark engines. He said it had the 083 heads on it.

 

That is a decent price if you have someone do it for you. The question Is are you satisfied with a stock 350 if you are dropping that much on it? What is wrong with the original engine?

 

Summit Racing sells a load of ATK engines, don't know if that's good or bad. I guess you could check the reviews. If you want a lot more bang for a few more bucks, Summit also sells Chev Performance 350 Truck (same as car) crate motors. 210hp ( NAL- 12568758) for $1700 or 255hp with a roller cam and vortec heads for $2000 (NAL-12530283).

 

The original engine threw a rod and had a spin bearing. Temp redlined twice before I got home and that was only a 10 mile drive. I'm just gonna put stock back in.
