Which oxygen sensor is correct?

Hello!

Yesterday I was about to swap my oxygen sensor for a new one, as part of an overhaul. Problem was the new "Bosch original equipment type" 12014 from Summit only had one wire, while the old sensor has four. Which sensor type should I have? Is this four wire type an upgrade?

Does it matter that I have Hooker headers?

I'm a bit pissed off since I specifically asked Summit if this was the right one for my car, an '89 irocZ 350 TPI. They said it was! Luckily it wasn't too expensive...

Now I really want to get it right, both the function, fitting and connector. Help apprecitiated, thanks!

Best regards,
Per

Re: Which oxygen sensor is correct?

These cars originally had a one wire oxygen sensor. It sounds like you have a heated o2, and might even be a wideband o2 sensor. It is common for the one wire setup to be replaced with a heated 3 or 4 wire o2 sensor, especially with headers since it usually moves the o2 sensor further from the start of the exhaust which can allow it to cool enough to go out of closed loop when idling.

Re: Which oxygen sensor is correct?

What someone said about why there is a heated O2 sensor installed (headers). The AC Delco AFS-75 is a commonly used 4-wire heated sensor. The connector is 4 terminals inline.

Can search it on Rock Auto for some decent pictures of the sensor.
