New rear main seal?

It looks like the rear main seal on my motor needs to be replaced. Will the engine need to come out to do this? Are there any upgrades, maintenance, or preventative maintenance that can/should be performed while having this done?

You can replace it bye removing the transmission.

Re: New rear main seal?

The one thing you might consider (depending on mileage and cooling system health) when the engine or transmission is out is to replace the freeze plugs in the back of the block.
