Recently had some work done, the machinic said he didn't have the part for this so he wrapped it in duck tape. Can someone help me with what I'm missing?
Originally, GM used a soft O ring inside the aircleaner that the MAF seats against, then a one time use band clamp was fixed over the aircleaner lip and the ridge on the front of the MAF.
Kinda like this... Or exactly like this... Hard to explain and visualize, so here's a few photos of one I just happen to have laying here.
It's important that everything AFTER the MAF sensor is pretty sealed up, since any air that gets in the system needs to go through the MAF. In your case, the "leak" if you will is BEFORE the MAF, so even if air does make its way in, it's still getting metered by the MAF, and won't affect how the car drives.
....I had the same missing clamp, and actually cut a 1.5" segment of an old bike tire tube and used it like a big rubber band. Looked fairly "factory" too if you didn't know better.
I think the GM part numbers for the clamp are: 14083827 or 14094752
I had the numbers in my notebook but I have no idea where they came from.
I think they're called curled pinch clamps. It's the curled feature of the clamp that's going to be hard to find if you have to find a usable, universal substitute.

Yeah im going to return it . Is the o ring the only thing I'm missing?
Is this a joke? Dude.
I told you in the first reply you're missing the clamp. I even uploaded a few photos of the clamp you're missing. You're probably missing the O-ring too, but the O-ring isn't as important as the clamp.
There is also a aftermarket replacement that uses the worm style clamp with bent edges like the factory clamp.. I have one in the garage.

Good stuff. 14083827 is the one time use, crimp on clamp. 14094752 is the worm gear version. Both are discontinued but available for stupid money on Ebay. I might have to look into what other cars may have used 14094752 originally and keep an eye out in the junkyard.
The trouble with generic clamps is that they lack the V-band style lips that hold the MAF and aircleaner together.

I'm new to this and learning everywhere. Will I be able to install the clamp and o ring myself? Any help on how to do that? And is the clamp posted a couple up the right clamp?
....I might be wrong, but I don't think you really even NEED anything there. Every car is a little different, but my MAF sensor popped right into the opening on the "Y" shaped air cleaner and didn't move. Drove that way for years. I'm sure that technically, a tiny, insignificant amount of unfiltered air might've snuck in, but not enough to be problematic. Maybe other cars didn't fit quite as snug.

Now that I think about it, when I removed my MAF screens () 30 years ago, I don't remember having issues with the clamp. I reused the original clamp and it's not the worm gear style. I didn't buy a replacement clamp either.
